Service Description

A pottery experience you will treasure!! A unique experience offered to guests currently staying at Hillview Cottages; Aunty Med's Cottage or The Beautiful Bush Retreat. Designed for all abilities, beginner to experienced, you will be guided by Felicity, (Kate's partner), expert potter and teacher. You will make your own handmade mug and wheel thrown piece in the gorgeous front cottage which Kate has lovingly restored and styled. Relax and create in blissful surrounds, in tune with nature and grounded by the warm natural clay. Disconnect from technology and use age old techniques to make a bowl on the traditional Bernard Leach kick wheel. Sit under the veranda with the birds or by the fire in the cottage to emboss found natural collections into your mug for a lasting memory from the gardens and native environment. All clay and glazes are included and you will choose how you want your pieces to be finished in a variety of natural glaze colours and textures. Your finished works will be professionally trimmed to smooth the bases, bisque fired then glazed and fired a second time for a strong, functional finish that can be put in a dishwasher or microwave. They will be posted to your address with free delivery in Australia, additional costs for overseas postage to be negotiated. The finishing process can take up to 4 weeks with drying times and kiln firing schedules in my solar powered studio at our permaculture farm in Bendigo. Alternate items can be created in this experience with prior discussion.

"I’d been thinking about trying pottery for a couple of years and just a month ago I came across Felicity’s page. I’ve had 2 lessons so far and LOVE it. I love the whole process of creating. Getting out of my head and into my body. It’s so exciting as the pieces come together! Sitting at the pottery wheel, looking out to nature, has been a blessing for my busy mind. Such a soothing experience."

"Felicity is a wonderful teacher with loads of experience. The location is lovely and peaceful, would recommend to anyone wanting to have a go at pottery."

Jac and Caroline, Horsham Vic

It was the the highlight of our entire stay! We both made handmade mugs with the guidance of the talented Felicity. It was such an awesome way to end our stay. We got to make some pots on the pedal powered wheel which was a workout in itself!
The best part we get to have our creations posted home once they are glazed and fired by Felicity.
The pottery experience is an additional fee on top of our stay but we would both highly recommend it, especially for couples!!
